An extensive extended cruise circling Australia has been cancelled in the wake of the death of an elderly lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant island.

The passenger had been hiking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the group for a pause. The ship departed without her and came back after some time after the ship staff realised the lady was missing.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her remains the next day.

Officials are investigating the incident, in coordination with police and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company stated that guests and staff on the vessel were informed that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and previous technical problems".
